About

Mike Novak is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (License #1233) with over 25 years of experience in the wealth management and fiduciary industries.  After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Lake Forest College he earned a paralegal certificate and worked for two law firms in Chicago that specialized in estate planning and settlement as well as corporate and real estate transactions.  Mike then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked two years in the finance division of The Nature Conservancy managing assets donated to the organization that were not part of its conservation programs.

Thereafter Mike returned to Chicago and began a 25-year career in the corporate fiduciary world working for three years at a bank that is now part of JP Morgan, eight years at Northern Trust (Chicago and San Francisco), nine years at Wells Fargo (San Diego), and then five years at Union Bank (San Diego) where he was a member of its Wealth Management Advisory Council for the last two years.

Mike’s 25-year career with corporate fiduciaries focused on the management of real estate assets held in client accounts and in the latter 13 years he supervised teams of real estate asset managers along the West Coast.  The market value of those portfolios ranged in value from ~$750M to ~$2B and the leasing, acquisition, disposition and exchange transactions that he and his teams managed ranged from “mom and pop” neighborhood level to ~$100M deals with institutional investors.

Mike and the teams he supervised managed all types of real estate including residential, multi-family, mobile home parks, industrial, commercial, retail, professional office, and agricultural/ranch.  These assets were held in trusts, estates, agency accounts, and a variety of closely held entities such as LLCs, S and C corporations, LLPs, FLPs and partnerships.

In 2021 Mike joined ProFiduciary, Inc. where he serves as trustee, executor, guardian and agent for individuals and families with a focus on accounts concentrated in real estate and/or family businesses.

Mike is a member of the Professional Fiduciaries Association of California, the North (San Diego) County Estate Planning Council, the Probate Attorneys of San Diego (affiliate member), the Estate Planning Council of San Diego, the National Trust Closely Held Business Association (pending), and the National Trust Real Estate Association; Mike also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the San Diego Opera and sits on its Audit Committee.

Mike is married and lives in La Mesa, California where he enjoys its annual Flag Day Parade and Fire Department Pancake Breakfast, both held in June, Old Car nights in the summer and the largest Oktoberfest in San Diego County.  Please feel welcome to reach out to Mike via the options to the left.
